It is strange how poker has just exploded as a sport in the past few years. The world poker tour is one of the most popular tv events now, and there are all kinds of poker games and poker related events which you see almost everywhere. Besides the world series of poker, there are online casinos now that let you buy in for free in hopes of getting you hooked. There are even world poker tour championship games that you can play on computer or on your Xbox if you have one. And then there is all of the poker merchandising and such. It is hard to figure out how the world poker tour got so very big so very quick.

Part of it has to do with the actual game that they play in the world poker tour . No limit Texas hold 'em is an exciting game to say the least. The players are betting thousands or tens of thousands of dollars per hand, and with every single card that is turned over, there is a whole new round of betting. The world poker tour is just so spectacular because the stakes that they are playing for are huge.

Although I vastly prefer playing a little Saturday night poker to watching the world poker tour, I have to admit to watching the show as well. The world poker tour just has so much more suspense than our nickel, dime, quarter game, where even if you have a really bad night, you still will come out ahead, or at most 20 or 30 dollars behind.

You can play games modeled after the world poker tour online, but honestly, I really do not like playing with a group of people that I can not see. When I play poker, there are better people at figuring out the odds, and mathematically calculating what is the best move to take.

But there is no one that I know who is better at reading peoples faces and calling a bluff a bluff. I am sure that it takes a lot of this skill to make it in the world poker tour as well. Many of these people are math geniuses, but many of them are great actors and highly receptive people as well.

You can not just master the math. You have to also master the poker face. Otherwise, you will not be great..
